Viswabharati Sammilani

Robert Browning (7 May 1812 – 12 December 1889) was an English poet and playwright whose mastery of dramatic verse, especially dramatic monologues, made him one of the foremost Victorian poets.
Within a few days Rabindranath had to go to Calcutta from Santiniketan.
Anandabazar Patrika reported on 16th Dec,1922,
" A seminar will be held on 18th Dec, 1922,( Monday), at 5.30 pm at Rammohan Library Hall at the initiative of Viswabharati Sammilani. Rabindranath Tagore will discuss on Robert Browning and read some poems."
Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis  wrote;
" When I was fetching Rabindranath to Rammohan Library Hall on 18th Dec (Monday), by car, he said, ' I, intentially, choose Luria. If I read small poems, it will appear as school teacher. Moreover in Luria there is an idea which seems to be appropriate in modern times.while we were coming back after the seminar, I asked him whether he was eager to say in the hall". He replied in the affirmative and said it wasbetter that I didn't say anything. Then he said that in Luria the relation between East and West had been explicitly stated."
Sita Devi was among the audience.
Under the chairmanship of Rabindranath the 5th meeting of the Council of Viswabharati was held on 19th Dec.
