Rabindranath in West and South India (contd- 20)

Rabindranath reached Bombay on 23rd Nov and stayed seven days as a guest of Jahangir Petit in his house at Pedar Road.
Ananda Bazar wrote on 28th Nov. ;
 The Social society of Bombay greeted him on 26th Nov.
Bombay Chronicle wrote on 27th Nov;
" Under the joint auspices of the Parsi Central Association, Zorostrain Association, and the Rathestar Mandal, Dr. Sir Rabindranath Tagore delivered a public lecture today (Monday) on "Ethics of Zoroastrianism" at Sir Cowasji Jehangir Hall, when Sir Jamsetji Jeejeebhoy, Bart. presided.With the help of the Parsi Society a fund for Viswabharati was started functioning under the head " Zoroastrian Trust Fund.Dr. Tarapurwala was invited to deliver 24 lectures for this fund in 1927.
Rabindranath delivered a lecture in a womens' gathering on 29th Nov. Bombay Chronicle wrote ; " under the auspices of Bombay Ladies' Branch National Indian Association, a lecture will be given by Dr. Rabindranath Tagore today Wednesday, at 5.30 pm at the residence of Mrs J.b.petit, Mount Petit, Poddar Road , kindly lend for the occasion . Members have the privilege of bring with tem two lady gfriends and are requested to inform the hostess if they will do so."      
On 1st Dec. he delivered another lecture.
From Bombay Rabindranath went to Ambala Sarabhai and remained his guest in his house.He met on 3rd Dec many important personalities at the courtyard of Sarabhai . Hindu wrote the occasioln on 10th Dec; " .. the poet addressed the elites of Ahmedabad in he charming grounds of Mr.Ambala Sarabhai, on the destructive aspects of certain elements inheent in the present civilisation of the West , which had to be escued , he said by the message of the east being once more carried to them, towards the rearing up of a newer civilisation, broad based on the co-operation of both."
