Rabindranath in West and South India (contd-15)

Rabindranath was returning from Ashram when P.R.Ramanujam met Rabindranath. The Hindu wrote on 17th Nov. ;
" Dr. Tagore on his way to Quilon touched Varakalai last evening and had his tea with Mr. P.R.Ramanujam of the Spider Chemical Mills under construction who also gave a gift of two hundred volumes of books on Chemical Science from his library and a complete equipment for a chemical laboratory to help starting a chair of industrial chemistry in Santiniketan"
At the request of the people of Alleppey Rabindranath agreed to visit the place.At this news arrangement were made very quickly to welcome him and also for lecture . He was greeted magnificently on the Motor Boat as soon as he arrived there on 16th Nov,1922. He delivered  his lecture on the " Crisis of Civilisation" at 9.30 am in Electric Theater Hall.The audience offered him Rs.1200/- as a contribution to Viswabharati. He started for Ernakulam by boat at 12 o'clock.
