Rabindranath in Calcutta - Jan 1923

Rabindranath had to go to Calcutta after a few days. He wrote to Prasanta Chandra on 1st Jan 1923;
" I didn't get relief before 3rd Jan,1923. On that day I shall go to Calcutta inthe evening train. If your car is available i can go to your place or I shall first go to Jorasanko and then you will pick me up at your opportunity."  I mean your place means Alipore Govt Observatory quarter' - Rabindranath went straight to that place.
Rabindranath came to Calcutta on 3rd Jan but  the news of his first public appearance came out in Ananda Bazar   on 6th Jan, 1923;
" Viswabharati Sammilani :- The Director of Agriculture of Viswabharati, Sreeyukta L.K.Elmhirst will deliver a lecture on " the Education of Village Reconstruction" at 5 pm in Rammohan Library Hall on 7th Jan,1923 (Sunday)  President;- Rabindranath Tagore.
Sita Devi wrote ;
" another seminar was held in Rammohan Library Hall where Mr. Elmhirst said about the Reconstruction of Villages. Rabindranath presided over the meeting. According to the speaker there are tree diseases in our villages. Malaria, Monkeys, and mutual mistrust. he discussed on these three points. To show good result out of well harvesting with good manure, he brought some ordinary lemons and kept them on the table. At the end of his lecture Rabindranath spoke about the beginning of Sriniketan."
the lecture of Elmhirst was published in Modern review on May 1923 under the head " Rural Reconstruction: Rural education"
