Rabindranth in West and South India (contd-11)

Rabindaranath delivered a lecture in the Alcott Hall at the initiative of Galle Association. Referring to the centre of union of East and West he had formed, he said that Ceylon was not separate country from India. It was said that once a king from India came and captured Ceylon. He married a lady of Ceylon."I am old now, I cannot repeat it once  again but explained them the aims and objects of Viswabharati to them. He also gave the reply of some questions put by the audience.

In the morning of 18th Oct he visited some hostels of Mahindra College and went to Colombo by car.In the evening  of 19th Oct Rabindranath became the president of the prize giving ceremony of Ananda Clollege in Alcott Memorial Hall. He confessed that   he didn't get any prize during school days. In  fact,   'in his own institution there was no custom of giving prizes to successful students because he thought there should not be any incentive offered to children and students to encourage them in their studies except what they had in the studies themselves.'   

"We have exported many things from foreign, this is one of them."
