Rabindranath in Europe (contd-6)- 1921

Dr Hans Bodmer

Dr Hans Bodmer is a partner and member of the Board of Directors with the Zurich-based law firm of BodmerFischer Attorneys at Law and is specialised in international commercial law. Prior to this, he worked as a lawyer at various law firms in Switzerland and abroad. Originally, he trained to become a PE teacher at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich
, before studying law and earning his doctorate at the University of St.Gallen. Furthermore, he was awarded his Master in Comparative Law at the University of San Diego in California. He is 56 years old, married and the father of two sons.
Rabindranath Started for Switzerland in the morning of 30th April,1921. Prof Jacob Kunz invited him last year to come here. But he could not come. Then he was invited by the President of Lesezirkel Hottingen  Prof Dr Hans Bodmer on 12th April 1921, Ranbindranath informed on 26th April expressing his inability to come. But Later on he showed his willingness to go to Rolland ;
" Kindly let some of youtr Swiss friends know it so that no time may be lost in coming into touch with people there. " Rolland replied and Rabindranath made an wire. In reply to the wire Dr. Bodmer wrote on 26th Apri, " I beg you to let meknow by wire, wether thursday, the 12th May , would be convenient to you for visiting us, besides, we may expect you at Zurich for reading from your own words on  on this day at 8 O'cl. in the evening , and last, if you would accept the hospitality of friends of mine."
A draft of a telegram was also visible at the back of the paper; " received letter 12 th May acceptable for lecture intend breaking journey at Basle for few hours inroute Italy - can you meet us station."
Rathindranath wrote in his diary, having reached Geneva on 30th they had a break journey at Basle. Dr. Bodmer, Dr. Vischer greeted him at the station and fetched them for lunch at Hotel des Trois Rois and prepared the programme for Switzerland.
