SHIKSHAR MILAN - [ Coordination of Culture]  A plea for devising  system of education co-ordinating all that was good  in Eastern and Western Culture.
Jatiya Shiksha Parishad arranged a felicitation ceremony of Rabindranath to be presided by Ashutosh Choudhury on 15th Aug,1921,  at University Institute Hall. Rabindranath read the essay Shikshar Milan on that day.
Though invitation cards were issued to different persons for this occasion , the huge number of people, inspite of bad weather, came to attend the programme since at 12 o'clock though it was to be started at 4 pm and at about 5.30 pm it became impossible to manage the situation due to heavy rush. at about 5.45 pm Rabindranath and Andrews came to the hall when the mob became out of control and they rushed into the hall.
When Rabindranath wanted to read his essay, the mob was putting slogans, Bandemataram, Gandhijiki Joy etc., but Rabindranath calmly and patiently read his essay.

This was a general practice to greet Rabindranath when he used to enter the hall. But today there was no such sign, only a frozen-silence prevailed from beginning to end. If his influence as a great poet, his global reckonition was absent he might have been killed or would tear him  off.
