Rabindranath in America-3rd time (contd-4)

Pádraic Colum (8 December 1881 – 11 January 1972) was an Irish poetnovelistdramatist,biographerplaywright, children's author and collector of folklore. He was one of the leading figures of the Celtic Revival.
After coming to New York Rabindranath sent a telegram to Mrs Moody. But Mrs. Moody arrived on 15th Nov and on the next day she invited Padraic Colum [1881-1972], the poet and one of the founder of AbRabindranath became happy being introduced with him. They saw  each other in Chicago.
The second lecture Rabindranath delivered in Park Theatre at
 2 pm organised by League of Political Education on 16th Nov.
Rabindranath planned to come over America this time at their request and for promised sum of money of 3 thousand dollar.
Before a huge gathering Rabindranath read the essay "Meeting of the East and West" Pearson wrote to Andrews,
" It was wonderful to see how they crowded towards him after the lecture was finished and how very quickly they took up his points and responded to his wonderful touches of humour" New York Herald published the summary of the lecture under the title "Not League. But Love needed, says Tagore ! Indian poet Declares East must meet West" on 17th Nov.
New York Evening News published a news on 13th Nov, : When the national arts Club holds its author's night Wednesday night at the fifteenth annual exhibition of books of the year at its galleries , 119 East Nineteenth  Stree, it will have as its guest Sir rabindranth Tagore, Lee Wilson Dodd, Kermit Roosevelt, F. Scot. Fitzerald...each of these authorswill speak or read from his own work... The authors present will autograph copes of their latest books.
Rabindranath read the essay "The poet's Religion" in tghe Public School Auditorium on 21 Nov at 8 pm organised by Brooklyn Civic Forum. This was the first time he read this essay before an audience.
Standard Union of that locality wrote on 22nd Nov under the title "Poet Tagore Addresses Brooklyn Civic Forum / Large Audiencxe Greets East Indian Philosopher, - Many turned away";
" Never has the Forum had as large an audience as that which turned out to hear the famous writer from the East... Tagore held his audience spell bound .At times his voice fairly vibrated with emotion and as Rabbi Alexander Lyons, who presided at the meeting , later declared the poet gave his very soul to the Forum audience,"
Eagle informed ,"In addition to the poet's address , Miss Adele Parkhurst, soprano, and Miss betty Schleen , accompanist, furnished two numbers on the programme."
In the morning Rabindranath again joined the meeting of the Quakers..
