Rabindranath and Viswa Bharati University (contd-18)

Rabindranath became inspired at the response of several learned persons of the world.Once he thought that he would go to China, Japan on 15 Jan 1922 and western countries and invite some learned men to come at the inaugural ceremony of his proposed new University.But when he came to know that Brajendranath might come to Santiniketan to see him during X-mas he changed his mind and wanted to hand over the University to the public in a meeting presided over by Brajendranath during X-Mas.
Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, one of the active members, wrote to Nirmal Kumari [Rani] Moitra, his would be wife ;
" The Poet called me and SurenBabu [Thakur] and asked us to draft a constitution  within August or September." It was assumed that Rabindranath started the preliminary work for the inauguration of the New University.
As per the scheduled programme ,
1. The 30th anniversary of the Ashram was held on 7th Paus [ 22 Dec,1921]in the temple in the morning and Rabindranath related his advice with explanation after the prayer.
2.   The  Executive Council meeting was inaugurated on 8th Paus [23 Dec,1921]in the "Amrakunja" [Mango Garden] and Brajendranath Seal took the chair. In this meeting the draft Constitution of the University was approved and the Founder Chancellor Rabindanath Thakur br given the responsibility of nominating the names of the members of Different committees.
3. A meeting was held in the morning at the Amra Kunja  on 9th Paus [24th Dec] to condole the members of the Ashram who had expired during the previous years. After this meeting the election of the executives of "Ashramic Sangha" for the next year was held. Santosh Chandra Majumdar was elected as the secretary of the .Ashramic Sangha and as the secretary of Santiniketan Patrika.
4. On 25th Dec Kshitimohan Sen and Pearson discussed about the life and advice of Jesus Christ.
Female students from outside would be admitted after Puja vacation. A girls' hostel was arranged in the new building by the side of "Dehali" and Snehalata Sengupta was given the post of in-charge of the hostel. Malati [ Choudhury, 1900 - 1998], daughter of Snehalata, and Manjushree, daughter of Surendranath, were the first two students of the Girls' section . The number of the female students were gradually increasing.
After the  Paus Utsab SRabindranathantiniketan remained closed for seven days. During this winter vacation seven teams under seven professors went for an educational tour. Once Rabindranath thought of forming a
" Travelling  School".
