Rabindranath and Viswabharati (contd-10)-Nov 1919


At the death of Birchandra, Bengali literature was widely affected as he had conceived many literary plans with Rabindranath which remained unimplemented. One of these was publication of a valuable compilation of Baishnav padabali. After that also the relationship moved ahead for the better. At one point after the death of Birchandra Rabindranath thought that “…..With this death my friendship with the royal family comes to an end interestingly that was not to happen Maharaja Radha kishore has let the love and admiration for the young poet remained.

Rabindranath visited Umakanta Academy School on 10 Nov. 1919.Rabindranath was felicitated in the Verandah of the west side of school hall where Pandit Krishna Kumar Kabyatirtha read the welcoming address in sanskrit. Headmaster Shital Chandra Chakraborty said, " We are habituated to see that the sun sets in west but our Rabi flooded the whole world in rising west ( Paschatya) . Rabindra wrote in the inspection book after giving many advices to the students , ' I am grateful for the reception given to me by the students and teachers of this schooland am greatly pleased with what i saw there."
Rabindranath had also some talks with BirendraKishore who donated Rs. 5,000/- at one time for the development of Viswa Bharati.
Rabindranath was satisfied to observe the Manipuri Dance and he requested Birendra Kishore to send one  in Santiniketan Manipuri  dancer to Viswa bharati.. Which he did
On 13 Nov they returned to Santiniketan.
