Tiruchirappalli a (Tamil: தி௫ச்சிராப்பள்ளி (tiruccirāppaḷḷi) About this sound pronunciation ) (spelt as Trichinopoly in the records of British India), also called Tiruchi or Trichy, is a city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu and the administrative headquarters of Tiruchirappalli District. It is the fourth largest municipal corporation in Tamil Nadu and also the fourth largest urban agglomeration in the state.
On 10 feb, 1919, in he morning Rabindranath reached Trichy Fort Station of Trichirappali and was greeted by the President, Dewan Bahadur T. Deshikacharia and other members of the reception committee formed there to welcome him and his party. The Boys' scout fetched them from the station to the motor car ceremoniously. In the morning He went to visit the temple and the famous press known as Sree Banibilas Press. In the evening the residents of Trichinopslli and Srirangam greeted him in the Laviey Hall and read a written felicitation paper, written both in English and Sanskrit. In reply to his reception Rabindranath gave them thanks and read the essay "The Message of the Forest" . then he went to see the boat-festival of Srirangam in the river Cauvery.
