Pearson wrote to Andrews on 5th Nov;
"Three days after Rabindranath reached New York, election of President of America was held on 2nd Nov, still the reception of Rabindranath was flawless. " The idea that there is any strong feeling against him seems to be almost entirely a myth." He further added the most valuable information about Rabindranath, " He has just been writing a wonderful lecture on "The Poet's Religion" which I am sure is going to be the greatest of the series. He has not read itto me yet but is going to do so to-night if we get a quiet evening."
On 6th Nov he again wrote to Andrews;
"Today the campaign opened!"
Today in the morning, Rabindranath and Pearson went to a meeting of Society of Friends organised by Koakar-community about 40 miles away from New York. The members of this organisation were spiritualist and rich. After lunch they requested Rabindranath to say about his Santiniketan. Rabindranath spoke in details for about half an hour how the idea was occupying his mind. Pearson informed to Andrews that this lecture would have good result.
He also delivered another lecture for collecting funds and support for Viswa Bharati. Many persons showed their eagerness to contribute and it was hoped that the result would follow very soon. Louise Townsend Nicholl reprted in The Evening Post of New York on 6th Nov. under the title " Tahore comes to plead for his new University."
On 10th Nov Rabindranath delivered a lecture on " The meeting of the East And West" before a huge audience in Bruklin Academy of Music organised by Bruklin University.This was his first lecture delivered commercially.
Rabindranath read the essay "The village Mystics of Bengal" in Bryn Mawr College for Girls in Philadelphia on 12th Nov.He had a contract on 27th Oct to deliver this lecture against a sum of money of money $ 300.00 only.Dr. Sujit Mukhopadhyay informed that Rabindranath also delivered a lecture in Swarthmore College and then went back to New York.
On 13th Nov a friendly football match was held between Princeton University and Yale Universityin Princeton city . About 50 thousands spectators were present. Rabindranath was also invited to there and he did it. Pearson wrote to Andrews on 14th Nov, " Gurudev actually went to watch this match and had a sheltered seat in the middle of the ampitheatre in the bright sunshine." Pearson also added, " Dyo San, son of Tomitaro of Japan to see Rabindranath one day .He was in New York this time. He brought for him two ordinary turbans and a hat and for Pearson, a diamond tiepin and also sent one day a Japanese dinner.Van Eegen of Holland was also in New York and came to see Rabindranath one day. Both of them were happy to meet each other. .
