Rabindranath read the essay "The Cult of Nationalism" at the Opera House of Academy of Music organised by Brooklyn Institute on 27th Nov. Local paper Eagle wrote on 28th Nov;
" Brooklyn turned out en masse last night, to Welcome Sir Rabindranath Tagore....He was greeted almost reverentially by the audience , the entire throng rising upon his entrance and upon his exit. The Rev. Dr. Charles C. Albertson presided. He lauded the writer in his talk "

" In closing Sir Rabindranath read b request one of his own poems, a translation of one written on the last day of the last century, in which the present war was prophesied".
Pearson wrote Rathindranath;
" He spoke last night at Brooklyn before an audience of about 2500 and although he had been tired out by a reception in the afternoon at the Poetry Society he spoke with tremendous vigour, the audience responding magnificiently.
