Santiniketan (contd-27)

Rabindranath's health was improving at Giridi. He informed this to Mohit Chandra and said that there was a possibility of getting one overseer  for constructing the workshop. He added in this letter that he heard from Bolpur that 2/3 students were ill. It would be better if they could go home after the vacation. But that didn't happen. A student coming from a high family died in the school due to illness. At this news many guardians were taking their wards to their home.. Akshoy Chandra Sarkar wrote a long letter to Rabindranath.
In these busy hours new problems developed in the school.Mohit Chandra being ill left Santiniketan. His illness became serious after few days.In a letter written to Manorama Chattopadhyay on 29th July Pramatha Lal Sen  described the illness of Mohit Chandra.
' The letter written yestarday contains his illness. His disease was of serious type.Bucket full of Blood vomitting happened. Now this is stopped but he is very weak. His nursing and other things are ok.He is gradually improving.Once his mother was attacked with such problem. The disease makes one very weak but it is not fatal.
Mohit Chandra gradually became well but could not join the school. Rabindranath thought that he would join after his recovery and he sent his salaries of Rs. 200/- p.m. for the months, Shraban and Bhadra. Later on he informed that he got a service in City College. But he did not join there, rather he again  joined in Brahmacharyasram.
At the end of Shraban Rabindranath came to Santiniketan and saw that there was too much mismanagement in the school. Mohit Chandra was ill and Bhupendranath Sanyal went to Bhagalpur to see his business there. Akshoy babu was absent and Nagen babu was attacked with fever. Rabindranath was thinking of going to Giridi for a change. But he had to cancel the programme as he was called for being a member of "jury" in the High Court.
