No work, no pay in Shantiniketan(contd-14)

In Tagore family, even in the case of a servant of salary of Rs. 3 only 'no work, no pay' was the system in vogue. The sentiment of Rabindranath towards Jagadananda, a teacher of Shantiniketan, regarding payment of salary was no exception.
Subodh Chandra along with Shamindranath came to Shantiniketan. From a letter written, after few days, it was revealed that the management of Shantiniketan rested on the shoulders of Manoranjan Babu, Subodh Chandra and Jagadananda Roy it seemed that, by that time, Jagadananda had joined the Shantiniketan.
In the mean time Kunjalal Ghosh, the son-in-law of Shibnath Shastri, expressed his desire to work in Shantiniketan, being attracted with the ideals of Shatiniketan. Rabindranath appointed him as the working secretary of the school. Rabindranath wrote about him to Manoranjan Babu in a letter that Kunja Babu would go to Bolpore very soon. He expressed his expectation about him that many help might be available from him.
He might aso help in delivering lectures. He had come forward in this job by himself so it was expected that he would work sincerely. The informations received about him from many sources said that he was good. Rabindranath had given him in writing  the details of  aims and objectives and programmes of the school. He asked every body to read that and do accordingly.
Rabindranath had given the responsibilty of conducting the school to three persons, 1. Manoranjan Bandyopadhyay, 2. Jagadananda Roy, and 3.Subodh Chandra. Manoranjan Babu had been nominated to act as Chairman of this Teachers' Council. Kunja Babu was inducted to act as working Secretary to this council. He would show the accounts of income and expenditure to the others for approval and pass that by them. He would work according to your directions. Rabindranath had written in the details the rules and regulations of the school and gave it to him and asked them to go through it. They should not hesitate to communicate any change of the rules to be ammended by them.
On 13th November, 1902, Rabindranath handed over a twenty page detail rules and regulations to Kujalal from Jorasanko. During the formation of plan for Brahmavidyalay Balendranath prepared a draft rules and regulations. But after the foundation of Brahmacharyashram Rabindranth himself took the responsibility of conducting the school and there was no necessity of forming separately  'rules a regulations' for the Ashram. Moreover he was not in favour following any hard rules and regulations for the Ashram.  As because of his family mishaps he had to remain absent off and on for long and short periods and felt a written rules and regulations for the Ashram. This might be termed as the First constitution of Shantiniketan Brahmacharyashram. It included a preamble also explaining the aims and objectives of the Ashram. This is to be noted that he had done this just before 11 days earier of his wife's death.
